The 2016 KIA Optima is pretty to look at and has a spacious interior plus fuel economy that your wallet will love. The KIA Optima is a 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick as well.

Four powertrains are offered: a 185-hp 2.4-liter or a 245-hp 2.0-liter turbo with a six-speed automatic transmission; a 178-hp 1.6-liter turbo with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic; and a hybrid, rated up to 40 mpg highway. The Optima has lots of tech, too, with optional touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking.

The interior is roomy which makes the Optima a great choice if you’re looking for a family sedan. A standard 60/40 split-folding rear seat can be dropped flat, a rarity in sedans. Car and Driver magazine testers fit a six-foot Christmas tree through the pass-through without it touching the front seats, and the trunk on its own is big and usefully shaped.

Drivers can opt for the $3700 EX Premium package, which adds a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a power passenger seat, navigation with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and LED interior lighting. Another $1200 for the EX Premium Audio package (Harman/Kardon surround-sound system, heated outboard rear seats, and rear window shades).
